BLACK PANTHER 3 FOR 3 AT THE OSCARS

Black Panther made history Sunday Night.

The film is the first superhero movie to receive a Best Picture nomination, and it took home three Oscars, although it lost the night’s top award to “Green Book.”

Ruth E. Carter became the first African-American to win for Costume Design, in one of the early awards of the evening.

In Carter’s acceptance speech she said that while Marvel created the Black Panther character, “through costume design, we turned him into an African king.”

The film also made history in winning its second award of the night: Hannah Beachler and Jay Hart for Production Design.
